The Christian Hackenberg Era In Oakland Is Over After Three Weeks
credits: Ed Mulholland | source: [object Object] Three weeks ago, the New York Jets traded former second-round pick Christian Hackenberg to the Raiders after keeping his ass firmly planted on the bench for two entire seasons. Unfortunately, he will not take the field for the Raiders either, as ESPN’s Field Yates reported this afternoon that Oakland had waived him. The Raiders confirmed Yates’s report shortly afterwards.
The Raiders only agreed to give up a conditional 2019 seventh-round pick in exchange for Hackenberg. Said conditions have not been publicly revealed, but they were apparently stronger than keeping Hackenberg on the roster for three weeks, which means the Raiders will keep the pick and Jets will wind up with exactly nothing to show for their wasted pick on the poor former Penn State QB.
May his skills, which extend from breaking huddles to hitting reporters with passes, get put to use somewhere.
