The Jimmer Is Too Famous To Attend The Classes, BYU Says
From the Mormons Reap What They Sow Dept.: Jimmer has had to stop attending classes on the BYU campus because his celebrity is too distracting. Seriously.
Here's the Glens Falls Post-Star:
Jimmer Fredette has stopped going to classes at Brigham Young University. That is not unusual for college basketball stars who plan to make their living in the NBA, but in this case it was the school that requested it. "It was getting too disruptive," said Al Fredette, Jimmer's father, who explained that Jimmer's fame in Provo, Utah, has led to constant requests for autographs and photographs. "He can't go anywhere in Provo without being recognized." He now does all his schoolwork online.
I'd wonder what sort of school would allow its star pupil to complete all of his coursework online, except for that Kemba Walker claims to have read one book in his lifetime, and he's graduating from UConn a year early.
Boy, it's almost like these guys are professional athletes, huh?
