The Miami Heat Bring Much Funk
This image was lost some time after publication. So maybe this has been around a while, but this is the first we've seen of it: The entire Miami Heat roster has gone throwback, in the style of a 1971-72 team called "The Floridians." It's on the Heat's official site, and, honestly, if all official sites of teams and leagues had as much fun as this one, well, we'd probably be out of business.
The Floridians have separate bios for each player and, truth be told, they're all pretty hysterical. Here are our favorites, though:
• Michael Doleac as Stanley "Frizz" Patterson • Antoine Walker as Charlie "Chi-town" Evans • Jason Kapono as Ricky "The White Shadow" Smith • Gary Payton as Randall "Action" Jackson
We were already kind of rooting for the Heat in the playoffs — we're perpetual Shaq apologists — but now we really are.
