The Real Crime In Floyd Mayweather's Racist Rant

Pretty Boy is still catching heat for his tirade against Manny Pacquiao, as well he should. But don't criticize him because it was offensive. Criticize him because he got his stereotypes all wrong.

On Saturday, Mayweather apologized for his rant; today, a Filipino-American association took him to task for it. Two golden opportunities to set the record straight, two missed chances.

I don't know why no one's made a bigger deal of this. You remember what Floyd said:

"Once I stomp the midget, I'll make that motherfucker make me a sushi roll and cook me some rice."

No! That's not a Filipino stereotype! That's the Japanese, and to a lesser extent, the Chinese.

"We gonna cook that motherfucker with some cats and dogs. And rice with a little bit of cat, rice with a little bit of barbecued dog."

No! That's the Koreans! And again, to a lesser extent, the Chinese.

There are plenty of good Filipino stereotypes out there; they're like the Spanish of Asia. Look, people, if we're to move on to a postracial society, we first have to get it straight which cultures do which things differently from us, and why that's hilarious.
