The Timing Of The Daily Line's Cancellation Had Nothing To Do With Favre's Penis. Sort Of.
Sports Business Journal's John Ourand broke the news about the death of Versus's sports-yap vehicle "The Daily Line", where Jenn Sterger co-hosted. The cancellation of the show in light of the Favre-Sterger fap-flap seems suspicious. But it's not.
According to multiple sources inside the Comcast/Versus cubby hole, the company decided not renew Sterger's contract long before the Favre situation. In fact, the addition of former ESPNer Molly Qerim made Sterger even more expendable. The only way the Favre fiasco had any impact on this decision was the unfortunate timing of it. Comcast higher-ups were skittish about the possibility of any unlawful termination accusations that could be presented by Sterger, given how adamant (and difficult) she was about not discussing the situation on "The Daily Line," even though it was one of the sports stories dominating the headlines the past couple weeks. The announcement of Sterger's non-renewal was kept under wraps, even from her, for quite some time to avoid that possibility.
The show's abysmal ratings made it easy to terminate, but even if the show was given a second chance by Versus to capitalize on the publicity its received since Favre's cock captivated the universe, the next season would not have included Jenn. To be continued.
