The WNBA Has Its Charles Oakley
It's a day or two old, but we've got a lot to catch up on with all the NFL Draft madness ... and we all love a good women's basketball brawl, don't we? Deanna Jackson of the WNBA's Chicago Sky was arrested and charged with assault in Jerusalem on Friday after brawling with an opposing player after a game.
Jackson's playing in Israel in the offseason, and according to reports, went after Ina Gourevitch ("The 'Vitch," as I call her) in the parking lot after losing to Gourevitch's team. Jackson connected with a punch and broke The 'Vitch's nose. The WNBA season kicks off on Wednesday (like I have to tell you that), and Jackson, for the moment, is still being detained in Jerusalem. She appears in court on May 3rd.
Witnesses describe the fight as slow and boring, but extremely fundamentally sound.
