This Sharks Arena Hype Video From 1993 Is The Most '90s Thing Imaginable
The San Jose Sharks are celebrating their 25th anniversary season (though it’s only their 24th season because of the 2004-05 lockout) this year. Tonight is the first of five throwback games, and they’re wearing their original sweater designs against the Blue Jackets (seen above).
For the game the Sharks also unearthed their in-arena hype video from 1993, and the only way it could be more accurately representative of the early 1990s is if it included LA Lights skates. It’s perfect. The video features a gam of sharks emerging from the ocean and flying(?) into the Sharks arena before donning jerseys and skates.
Can you believe that there was once a time in which tens of thousands of people stood on their feet and cheered after this video pumped them up?
The Sharks also played a special video tonight, which has a lot of good old footage from the inaugural season:
Correction: I originally wrote that the video is from the 1991 season, but as unearthed by commenter Tom Haverford, it actually debuted in 1993 when the Sharks moved into the brand new San Jose Arena. Check out this video of the unveiling:
