Three 20-point scorers power Washington past Utah

Mandatory Credit: Steven Bisig-Imagn Images Zoom Diallo amassed 24 points and seven assists to help Washington record a 74-65 victory over Utah on Monday night in a nonconference contest in Seattle.
Desmond Claude had 21 points and Hannes Steinbach added 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Huskies (9-4) defeated their former Pac-12 rivals. Franck Kepnang contributed 10 rebounds and matched his career best of six blocked shots for Washington.
Terrence Brown had 21 points and four steals for the Utes (8-5), who lost for the fifth time in eight games. Keanu Dawes added 17 points and nine rebounds for Utah.
Washington shot 50.9% from the field, including 3 of 15 (20%) from 3-point range.
Utah made 39.1% of its shots and hit 7 of 24 (29.2%) from behind the arc.
The Huskies opened the second half with a 9-1 burst, taking a 45-38 lead when Steinbach caught an alley-oop pass from Diallo and laid it in with 15:39 remaining in the game.
Washington led 49-41 after a jumper by Claude with 13:59 left to play. Dawes answered with a trey and Seydou Traore added a layup to get Utah back within three.
The Huskies later received a jumper by Kepnang and two free throws from Steinbach to take a 58-49 with 8:18 to go.
Utah moved within 61-58 on Kendyl Sanders' 3-pointer with 5:50 left.
Diallo scored the next four points as Washington went ahead by seven with 4:43 remaining.
The Utes sliced the deficit to 66-63 on a 3-pointer by Dawes with 3:07 left.
Diallo also produced the next four points to give the Huskies a seven-point lead with 1:50 remaining.
Dawes hit a jumper 20 seconds later, but Claude answered with a jumper to again make it a seven-point margin with 49.3 seconds left.
Diallo sank two free throws with 23.2 seconds remaining as Washington closed it out.
Brown scored 17 first-half points as Utah led 37-36 at the break. Diallo and Steinbach each had 12 points in the half for the Huskies.
Washington ran out to a 10-4 lead, but the Utes knotted the score at 15 on a putback by Hawes with 11:50 left in the half.
The Huskies led by two before Brown converted a three-point play to start a 7-0 run as Utah took a 34-29 lead with 3:36 remaining before the break.
