Tim Lincecum Hurls No-Hitter In 148-Pitch Performance
It took an arm-breaking effort, but Tim Lincecum is the latest pitcher to no-hit an opponent as the Giants hurler shut down the Padres in San Diego tonight thanks to 13 strikeouts (and four walks).
The 148 pitches is the second-most known to have been thrown in a no-hitter, after the 149 it took Edwin Jackson to keep the Rays hitless. Here's how it sounded on KNBR radio:
Lincecum, Matt Cain, and Jonathan Sánchez have combined for three Giants no-hitters since 2009, the most of any MLB team in that span.
The Padres are the only MLB franchise without a no-hitter to their credit, but they've been no-hit eight times.
The Giants were previously the last MLB team to be no-hit, with Reds pitcher Homer Bailey throwing his second no-hitter against San Francisco on July 2.
