Tina Charles breaks records for career rebounds, double-doubles

Nobody has collected more rebounds or double-doubles in a WNBA career than Tina Charles.
The 13-year WNBA veteran broke a pair of all-time league records Thursday night in the Atlanta Dream's 78-67 win over the host New York Liberty that earned them the eighth and final playoff spot.
Charles grabbed three rebounds during the first quarter of the regular-season finale against the Liberty, one of her former teams, to surpass Sylvia Fowles' previous record of 4,006 rebounds.
The record came on an offensive rebound less than four minutes into the game. She, in fact, had two offensive rebounds on one Atlanta possession before Allisha Gray scored on a driving layup.
Charles then notched her 194th career double-double, also passing Fowles, when she grabbed a defensive board with 5:07 left in the third. She finished the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds and now has 4,014 rebounds for her career.
Charles, 35, had starred for the Connecticut Sun (2010-13), Liberty (2014-19), Washington Mystics (2021), Phoenix Mercury (2022) and Seattle Storm (2022). The eight-time All-Star was the 2010 Rookie of the Year and the 2012 WNBA Most Valuable Player.
She did not play in 2020 or 2023 and signed with the Dream ahead of this season.
Charles concluded the regular season averaging 14.9 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for Atlanta over 39 games (all starts).
She was also inducted into New York City's Basketball Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony.
