Titans part ways with Bill Callahan, one day after firing son
Tennessee Titans offensive tackle John Ojukwu (61) talks with Offensive Line Coach Bill Callahan before their game against the Indianapolis Colts at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024. The Tennessee Titans have moved on from offensive line coach Bill Callahan, interim head coach Mike McCoy announced on Tuesday.
The news hardly is surprising given the Titans fired Callahan's son, Brian, as the team's head coach following a 1-5 start to the season.
"We have parted ways with Bill Callahan, and I'll leave it at that. But the rest of the staff stays the same," McCoy said.
"... We've got two great offensive line coaches that will work together. They learned from one of the best."
Those two coaches are Scott Fuchs and Matt Jones, who previously served as the Titans' assistant offensive line coaches. Quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree will retain play-calling responsibilities for Tennessee.
Brian Callahan, 41, was hired in January 2024 after five seasons as the Cincinnati Bengals' offensive coordinator that included a three-point loss in Super Bowl LVI. The Titans posted a 4-19 record under him.
Bill Callahan, 69, left the Cleveland Browns to join his son in Tennessee in 2024.
He previously served as a head coach with the then-Oakland Raiders (2002-03) and the interim head coach of the Washington franchise (2019). He also worked as an offensive coordinator with the Raiders (1998-2001) and Dallas Cowboys (2012-14) and as an offensive line coach with six teams.
Bill Callahan also was head coach of Nebraska from 2004-07.
