SummerSlam is in the books, and WWE actually did a great job all-around. Did it compensate in ticket sales? No, but it had plenty of memorable moments. Randy Orton and Kevin Owens returned, while Chelsea Green and Chad Gable got their career-defining moments. Lastly, Oba Femi conquered the beast.

So, how did Triple H fare in the fallout? Let’s take a look.

LA Knight NOOOOO!

Rather than have Oba Femi confront Roman Reigns to kick off Raw, LA Knight showed up instead. In 2026, there are several ways WWE superstars can earn a title shot/match.

A. Win the Royal Rumble (Liv Morgan and Roman Reigns) or Elimination Chamber (Randy Orton and Rhea Ripley)

B. Return from a hiatus of six months or more (Becky Lynch, Stephanie Vaquer, Kevin Owens, CM Punk, Street Profits)

C. Leave the company and return as a bigger name (Baron Corbin, Big Cass)

D. Lose in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament (Seth Rollins)

E. Debut and lose at least three matches, then win the title match (Sol Ruca)

How NOT to get a title opportunity. Win the King of the Ring tournament, and beat Brock Lesnar TWICE, including in the main event of SummerSlam. We are in a holding pattern until WrestleMania, where Oba Femi shows up to strut and leaves. He’s on a collision course with Bron Breakker instead, and neither man can afford to lose AT ALL.

Airing Your Dirty Laundry

Dominik Mysterio, the son of Rey Mysterio, is now a jobber ten months after beating John Cena for the IC title. His match with Danhausen is ranked the worst of the year, and he has been vocal about his booking on social media. As a AAA champion, his stock doesn’t translate to the WWE product, which is a shame.

Roman Reigns goes from WWE to AAA.

At the end of Raw, Rey Mysterio approached Roman Reigns. Mysterio told Reigns he’s got something for him in AAA. WWE then announced a tournament featuring superstars from WWE and AAA. It looks like we are headed towards a Lucha Bros final, and Penta winning the tourney.

Brie Mode Deactivated

The Bella Twins lost their match at SummerSlam, and turned on Paige after the match. Brie was seen clutching her shoulder, and Triple H said she suffered a shoulder injury. She revealed she has a broken shoulder, but won’t have surgery. These future Hall of Famers can’t catch a break, or seem to be healthy at the same time. Here’s to a speedy recovery for Brie Bella.

The Streak…. I mean Career… Is Over

Sorry for the flashbacks, WWE fans from WrestleMania 30. Brock Lesnar announced on the Pat McAfee show that he’s retiring from pro wrestling. He put Oba Femi over on his way out, and rode off into the sunset. Lesnar is rumored to headline the 2027 Hall of Fame class in Saudi Arabia, and Paul Heyman is the only choice to induct him.

A REAL Brotherhood Revisited

WWE has manufactured the SHEILD lore with the recent match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at SummerSlam. However, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have a way richer history than those two. They go back to Ring of Honor, and Corey Graves couldn’t bring the promotion up on commentary. Owens will face CM Punk for the WWE title in Toronto, and Zayn is definitely going to cost him that match.

GOLD RUSH, or should we say Crush

Rhea is out indefinitely, which means Chelsea Green is the WWE Women’s Champ. Tiffany and her took on Fatal Influence in a tag match where if FI won, Jacy earned a title match with Tiffy. Michael Hayes must’ve been the producer because Green took the pin. Afterwards, Nia Jax attacked the champ and held up the belt with Lash next to her. Even worse, the WWE Women’s Champ suffered an injury. WWE has two options: have Green wear a mask ala Cody Rhodes or the Undertaker, or strip both Green and Ripley of their belts.

Speaking of titles, next week Tiffany Stratton defends her title against Jacy Jayne. Carmelo Hayes challenges for the US title in his hometown against Baron Corbin. Finally, the AAA tag titles and SmackDown tag titles are on the line in a triple threat. One of these belts is changing hands, one’s a DQ, and Shinsuke/Illa Dragonuv will crash the tag title party. That’s not a prediction; it’s a spoiler.

The Three Musketeers

In the main event, Alexa Bliss is back with the Lily doll, and Tatum Paxley leapfrogged off the top rope onto Fatal Influence in her debut. Charlotte Flair hit Sister Abigail on Jade to pick up the win, and their rocky chemistry almost ruined this segment.

WWE did a great job this week, but it’s an uphill climb from now on. The company can’t rely on returns and debuts every week. With 9 weeks until their next PLE, it’s worth considering whether watching the product is essential.
