Twins reinstate C Christian Vazquez from injured list

The Minnesota Twins reinstated veteran catcher Christian Vazquez from the 10-day injured list on Monday.

Vazquez, 35, missed the last 43 games with a left shoulder infection.

He played four rehab games at Triple-A St. Paul, going 2-for-15 with a home run, four RBIs and three walks.


Vazuez was batting .174 with two homers and 13 RBIs in 61 games prior to the injury.

The two-time World Series winner is a career .249 hitter in 989 games with the Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros and Twins.

To make room on the roster, the Twins optioned infielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to St. Paul.
