U.S. Men's Basketball Players Get Hugs From Michelle Obama Despite Not Beating France By 75
Of course, much of this is self-inflicted with all the Dream Team comparisons but it is silly nonetheless. At no point during this "game" against France did anyone with a skull full of working parts think the outcome was in jeopardy. But if the U.S. doesn't look flawless while its opponent simultaneously looks like it's in an infomercial trying to use the "other brand" then we'll continue to get articles like these.
Hardly dreamy, still dominant.
Kevin Durant scored 22 points, LeBron James added eight assists and the U.S. Olympic men's basketball team opened tournament play with a rough-and-ragged 98-71 win over France on Sunday.
It was far from flawless basketball - too many jump shots, silly fouls, poor shooting - but the U.S. men's basketball team wore down France with its talent, depth, speed and strength in the first half.

There was nothing revelatory about the win, as Team USA pulled out the victory with a lot of NBA ball - three pointers off of drive and kick plays, lay-ins around the rim, and killer defense.

You know things are askew when the New York Post is one of the only outlets to make any sense of the game. With bonus food simile!
Team USA got off to as sweet an Olympic start as a good French pastry as the heavily favored Americans broke free after a tight first quarter to pummel France, 98-71, at the packed basketball venue in Olympic Park.
