UFC Vegas 120 Odds, Picks and Predictions: Best Bets for Saturday

It’s back to the Meta Apex for the Octagon, as the UFC holds UFC Vegas 120 on August 8 in Las Vegas.

The main event will feature a lightweight battle between Mateusz Gamrot and Quillan Salkilld.

Gamrot, who has been in the top 10 at lightweight for a while now, is 2-2 in his last four, entering this bout off a second-round submission of Esteban Ribovics at UFC 327 in April. He has won five of his last eight bouts after a 4-1 start in the Octagon.

The rising Salkilld has won 12 straight fights after dropping his professional MMA debut. This includes a 5-0 UFC record after winning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2024. Salkilld enters this fight off three straight first-round finishes, most recently defeating Beneil Dariush in May.

Lightweights will also be featured in the co-main event, as Carlos Diego Ferreira takes on Billy Quarantillo. Diego Ferreira has struggled, coming into this bout off two straight losses and five Ls in his last seven. He was most recently finished by Alexander Hernandez at Noche UFC 3 last September. “Billy Q” has had similar struggles, and this marks his first fight since being stopped by Cub Swanson in December 2024.

The main card will also feature Darren Elkins’ retirement fight against Yadier Del Valle, as well as Amanda Lemos vs. Alexa Thainara and Ty Miller vs. Billy Ray Goff.

MATEUSZ GAMROT VS QUILLAN SALKILLD

Mateusz Gamrot is someone who seems to rarely, if ever, tire in the Octagon. He's shown an ability to handle fights that go the distance well, thanks to his chain wrestling and grappling abilities. His control is next-level. Salkilld, meanwhile, has a lot of momentum on his side with his win streak and impressive finishes. His striking is on point, working range with elite kickboxing.

Gamrot should look to get on the inside and use his striking to lead to takedowns. He can then use his wrestling and control to work Salkilld over, testing the rising star's cardio. Salkilld, meanwhile, should look to use his range to his advantage, working distance control while using his strikes.

DARREN ELKINS VS YADIER DEL VALLE

It's cool to see a gifted, fun veteran like Darren Elkins get a final opportunity to showcase himself in the Octagon. It's a time to celebrate the legend and his career. Unfortunately for him, he's taking on a dangerous up-and-comer in Del Valle.

Del Valle is going to look to wash off the stink from his narrow loss to Jordan Leavitt. On the feet, he has power, and on the ground, he's shown he can wrap up submissions. Del Valle should look to bring pressure early, doing damage without emptying the gas tank. Elkins will need to display his vintage chin and make this an ugly brawl to wear him down.

LOUIE SUTHERLAND VS JOSE MONTANHA

Yes, heavyweight UFC bouts are risky to bet, and they mostly aren't fun fights. But there's something interesting (if that's even the right word…) here. Louie Sutherland has struggled through three fights so far (two losses via first-round finish and an awful win over Tai Tuivasa). That's already bad enough, but there isn't much out there about Jose Montanha.

Montanha is 6-1 with four submissions and two KO/TKOs. His opponent history, however, is ugly – two 3-0 fighters and then everyone else is 1-0 or 0-0. If he doesn't do damage and ground Sutherland early, we're in for an ugly encounter.
