Uh, Who Exactly IS This Guy? Like, Really?
This image was lost some time after publication. About a million years from now, when aliens discover our dark, burned-out husk of a planet and start digging around for clues to our long-dead civilization, we hope that the Brandon Lang saga is not the first thing they come across. Oh Christ, we hope not. Our gambling-addicted sister Oddjack delves deeply into the mystery that is professional sports gambling "expert" Lang, on this, the day that the movie based on his life, Two For The Money, hits theaters. The facts are these:
Brandon Lane changed his name to Lang, then back to Lane, then to Link, then to Lang again. For reasons known only to him; Oddjack explains it better than we do. We're thinking right now of the Robin Williams routine where he recounts playing with his son's Transformers toy while on speed. "It's a robot, it's a dinosaur, what the fuck is it!?" Lang has a Web site, where one can purchase picks and win a trip to see Brandon in Las Vegas. Lang is a self-proclaimed "great high school athlete," who attended UNLV but, uh, never played a minute of sports there. And, of course, you should know that Lang — Link? Lane?? What is it!? — is quite insane. We were under the impression that everything that happens in Vegas is supposed to stay there. Not true, apparently.
