Unconventional Blue Jays Double Play Follows Just The Luckiest Catch
In the top of the first inning of today’s Rangers-Blue Jays game, with Delino DeShields Jr. on second base, Rangers second-baseman Isiah Kiner-Falefa slapped a flare to shallow right field, where Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk came charging in to make a heroic play. And make a play he sure did, after stumbling to the turf like a big old goober:
DeShields committed to third, probably when he saw Grichuk splayed out on top of his glove, sliding along with his eyes shut. But the ball took an unlikely bounce off his glove, and another one off his chest, and rolled back into his glove, and our hero held tight. Possibly the best part of this video is the broadcaster saying look at the concentration right as Grichuk shuts his eyes and looks away from the ball. Look at it, indeed!
The Blue Jays went on to win the game, 7-2.
