Union sign homegrown D Nathan Harriel to new deal

The 24-year-old U.S. Men's National Team player is under contract through 2028-29 with an option for 2029-30.
"Nate has established himself as an essential piece of our backline over the past five years," interim sporting director Jon Scheer said. "His versatility, competitiveness, and dedication have been vital to the team's success, and his emergence as a leader both on and off the field has been significant. We look forward to his continued impact and the important role he will play in the years ahead."
Harriel has recorded six goals and six assists in 115 regular-season matches (96 starts) since making his MLS debut with Philadelphia in 2021. He leads the league with 17 interceptions so far this season.
Internationally, Harriel made his USMNT debut in 2025 and appeared in three friendlies against Turkey, Switzerland and Japan.
