Mandatory Credit: Kyle Terada-Imagn Images Hockey Hall of Fame member and Team USA legend Brianna Decker has joined the Minnesota Frost as an assistant coach, the team announced Monday.
Decker, 34, joins head coach Ken Klee and replaces Mira Jalosuo, who left to become head coach at St. Cloud State.
"We are very excited to welcome Brianna to our group. She has a remarkable record of success, leadership and vision -- both on and off the ice -- that will make her a huge asset for our team," Klee said. "Brianna's Hall of Fame credentials and experience as a player and coach will be a great addition to the Frost."
Decker won a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics plus silvers in 2014 and 2022 and helped the U.S. capture six world championships. Over 15 years with the national team, she recorded 170 points (81 goals, 89 assists) in 147 games.
The two-time USA Hockey Women's Player of the Year (2015, 2017) will be inducted into the Hall of Fame with the Class of 2025 on Nov. 10.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with the Minnesota Frost and to be surrounded by professional athletes who are committed to growing their game every single day," Decker said. "It's inspiring to be part of a league that sets the standard for women's hockey and a team that has been at the top of the league two years in a row. I'm excited for what's ahead and proud to contribute to a culture of excellence."
Decker was a two-time MVP in the National Women's Hockey League, starring for the Boston Pride. Her playing career ended with a left leg injury at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games.
Decker previously coached at Shattuck-St. Mary's School in Faribault, Minn., and with the U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team.
