Vikings LT Christian Darrisaw to undergo season-ending surgery
Minnesota Vikings safety Josh Metellus (44) celebrates with offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw (71) after catching a touchdown pass against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Vikings won the game, 31-29.
Tork Mason/USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin Vikings left tackle Christian Darrisaw is expected to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury that will require surgery.
According to multiple reports Friday, the Vikings received word that the left knee injury that forced Darrisaw out of the game Thursday night against the Rams would require season-ending surgery.
Head coach Kevin O'Connell said the Vikings were "keeping our fingers crossed we get good news" after the 30-20 loss that dropped Minnesota to 5-2.
Darrisaw was injured late in the first half while engaged blocking a defender when another Rams player inadvertently rolled into his left knee. He didn't return to the game and left SoFi Stadium on crutches.
David Quessenberry replaced Darrisaw at left tackle -- both played 25 snaps Thursday -- and did not fare well, leading to speculation the Vikings could hit the trade market in search of a more stable replacement.
Darrisaw, 25, agreed to a four-year contract extension with Minnesota worth up to $113 million. The deal included $77 million guaranteed.
