Vin Scully's Bowdlerized Translation Of Jim Tracy's Meltdown Tonight Is One Of Broadcasting's Great Moments
Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully is a national treasure for myriad reasons, but we saw just one facet of his abilities tonight, when umpires declared a liner off Shane Victorino's bat to have been trapped by Rockies center fielder Dexter Fowler. It would have been the third out of the inning, and it sent Colorado manager Jim Tracy on a verbal warpath—one Scully did his best to lipread, then translate into language for suitable for television.
After the whole thing was over, and Tracy had been sent packing, Scully drolly noted "We have all this technology and they don't use it because they say it would delay the game. Well, what was that we just saw?" We welcome any and all future opportunities to allow Vin Scully to further demonstrate why he's the greatest there ever was, and likely ever will be. [Prime Ticket]
