Violence Erupts At Jalisco Stadium After Monterrey Knocks Off Atlas
Atlas and Monterrey supporters clashed with each other and police following tonight's 2-0 Monterrey win that moved Los Rayados into the Liga MX playoff semifinals. Univision Deportes reported multiple police suffered injuries, while others formed a protective shield around Monterrey supporters to protect them from angry Atlas fans.
Atlas entered into the match with a 1-0 aggregate lead, but Monterrey won tonight's match 2-0 to move on in the Liga MX Apertura Liguilla. That sparked violence severe enough for Univision Deportes to move away from the post-game pressers and back to Estadio Jalisco. They mostly captured the aftermath, but you can see numerous fans with injuries as well as police officers down on the ground recovering. Several individuals were seen on stretchers, though it's not clear if they were fans, police, or security personnel. Observers report the violence continued outside the stadium as well.
