Mandatory Credit: Eakin Howard-Imagn Images Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry will miss Friday night's game against the Denver Nuggets due to illness.
It will be the second straight game that Curry misses. Illness also caused him to miss Wednesday's 121-116 loss to the host Sacramento Kings.
Curry initially was feeling ill on Tuesday against the visiting Phoenix Suns when he scored 28 points in 34 minutes during a 118-107 victory. He was coughing in the postgame news conference and said he wore down in the second half.
Curry, 37, is averaging 26.8 points and 4.3 assists in eight games this season. The 17-year veteran has knocked down a league-high 35 3-point baskets.
Second-round draft choice Will Richard replaced Curry in the starting lineup against the Kings and scored 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting to go with seven rebounds in 35 minutes.
Golden State forward Jimmy Butler (back) is listed as questionable for the Denver game. He also sat out against Sacramento.
Butler, 36, is averaging 19.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists in eight games.
The Warriors (5-4) have dropped three of their past four games.
