Wayne Rooney's Brother Drafted By Red Bulls, Seemingly Mocked By Associated Press Photographer
This is a photograph of Wayne Rooney's 20-year-old brother, John. He was drafted by the New York Red Bulls in Round 2 of the MLS SuperDraft. This is the caption for the photograph, taken by J. Pat Carter of the Associated Press:
In this Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 photo, soccer player John Rooney sits on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. talking to the media. The back of Rooney's neck is beet red, which is what happens when an Englishman comes to Florida to escape the shadow of his famous brother, Wayne.
That seems awfully cruel until you realize the photographer was probably taking his cues from the companion story. In any case, it's probably more accurate to say this is what happens with Englishmen in Florida.
