We Are All Dave McKenna LXXXVI
Here's your daily link to Dave McKenna's brilliant "Cranky Redskins Fan's Guide to Dan Snyder," which we'll be posting until Master Snyder's dumbass libel suit gets coldly and effortlessly dismembered to send a message to anybody who thinks their money affords them the right to treat the legal system like it's their Jenna 3-Hole Blow-Up Doll.
Today's topic: Getting closer to establishing motive. Specifically, how the Redskins' new puppet flack Tony Wyllie not only compared his squirmy little boss to an Egyptian revolutionary hero who would do anything to protect his wife's honor, but also offered this telling gem at a "Ethics in Sports Media" panel at the University of Maryland journalism school Wednesday.
"Some people ask, ‘Well, are you firing a warning shot to other members of the media? And I'd probably say ‘yes,' " he said, according to a live blog moderated by a Maryland professor. (And I've listened to the audio to verify all these quotes.) Wyllie added: "We're not trying to be bullies, as someone depicted us as. Basically it's just about writing the truth. We're not trying to make anyone afraid; we just want people to do what's right. Meaning you write the truth. Period."
Oh there's much more, so by all means, read Dan Steinberg's "Redskins say City Paper lawsuit was a warning to the media" post here.
In closing, here's some truth for you, Danny: Get your Charlie McCarthy doll fitted for a ballgag. He's a disgrace to not only the people who pay their hard-earned money to support a franchise they loved a lot more before you arrived, but also to his family (both living and dead) and anybody who values a free press.
Please help the City Paper with a donation to the weekly's legal defense fund.
