What The Hell Are You Doing, Captain Obvious.
Image via screengrab/MLB.com The Mets jumped out to a quick start today in the first game of a doubleheader against the Nationals, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning against Nats rookie pitcher Erick Fedde. With the score already 3-0, Travis d’Arnaud smoked a liner foul up the line in left field, where it bounced into the stands and directly off of the sternum of, well, Captain Obvious.
You can see that our man made no credible effort to keep the ball from ricocheting violently off the very center of his upper chest, so committed was he to playing his character and displaying his sign.
That’s a lot of planning, Captain Obvious. And that’ll be one hell of a bruise.
