Where Even the Misguided Are Welcome
Firstly, I cannot disagree more. But more importantly, welcome back for a big Sunday in European club soccer. Today we're featuring Chelsea and Aston Villa fresh from Stamford Bridge where the injury plagued Blues haven't lost in...well it's been a long fuckin' while. Continue after the jump for a breakdown of the day's featured matches, and feel free to follow along with the fun in the comment section. Unfortunately still no luck on the USB Guinness tap. Yet. Match of the Day Chelsea vs. Aston Villa at 10 am EST on Setanta Believe it or not Aston Villa could position themselves to top the table by afternoon's end. All it's going to take is three points at Stamford Bridge, accompanied by a draw or loss by Liverpool. Chelsea sits atop the league, but they're coming off of an ugly scoreless draw in Romania that resulted in a knee injury to Drogba. Joining him in the trainer's room are the world-class trio of Deco, Carvalho, and Essien. A draw certainly isn't the worst outcome in the world. Other Matches of Interest EPL: Manchester City vs Liverpool at 10 am EST on Fox Soccer Channel City could really use a definitive home result against one of the big four, and playing at home with Robinho in form it's not out of the question. Werder Bremen vs. Stuttgart at 11:30 am EST on GolTV Suttgart sits in second place in the Bundesliga, and today they face a Bremen side that leads the German league in goals scored and goals allowed. Serie A: Juventus vs. Palermo at 12 pm EST on Fox Soccer Channel Both teams sit four points behind Lazio on the league table, but try not to get too excited. Juve comes in on the heels of back-to-back draws and they've managed just four goals in Serie A this year. La Liga: Valladolid vs. Valencia at 1 pm EST on GolTV Valladolid has won their last two home matches in La Liga, but this week they face a stiffer challenge. Valencia is the side in form and they are unbeaten so far this season. Serie A: AC Milan vs. Cagliari at 2:30 pm EST on Fox Soccer Channel Cagliari has a -9 goal differential and they've yet to secure a point in Serie A this season. So sit back an enjoy watching the Brazilian trio of Kaka, Ronaldinho, and Pato carve up an opponent. La Liga: Real Madrid vs. Espanyol at 3 pm EST on GolTV Real has really picked things up in the early part of the season while Espanyol has been struggling. Wesley Sneijder should be available for the home side. EPL: Everton vs. Newcastle at 4:30 pm EST on Fox Soccer Channel The horror. Image via Who Ate All The Pies
