Which Countries Swap The Most World Cup Players?
Like the Olympics, athletes in the World Cup weren't necessarily born in the country they play for. This interactive graphic illustrates player migrations by country.
(If the image above is too blurry, click through and check out the interactive version.)
France to Algeria is the top migration path, as 16 players have followed this trend. Four of the United States' players come from Germany, which ties with France to Cameroon as the second-most popular migration path.
France are the leaders for players abroad, with 26. Germany are second with 13. Three American-born players play elsewhere. (Dammit, Giuseppe Rossi.)
Alergia has the most foreign born players on its roster with 16. Bosnia and Herzegovina is second with 7. The U.S. has five players who were born in another country.
