Who Will Be The Most Fascinating Person In Sports in 2014?
Over at Sports Illustrated, media writer Richard Deitsch has a collection of the responses 44 respectable sports media types gave when he asked who the most fascinating person in sports will be next year. Their picks were mostly about as exciting as you'd expect, with Johnny Football coming in as the consensus choice, but they did get me wondering who the most fascinating sports person of 2014 will actually be. I therefore convened my own panel of sports media types, and put the question to them. Their responses are below.
Tim Marchman, Deadspin:
I think it will be Chicago White Sox situational reliever Donnie Veal.
Tim Burke, Deadspin:
My fascinating athlete of 2014 is Peruvian cross-country skier Roberto Carcelen
who actually has a legit chance to do something in Sochi as Peru's only ever Winter Olympian
