Why the Philadelphia Eagles Look Ready to Repeat as Super Bowl Champions

Better brush up on those Bad Bunny bangers, Eagles fans. Philadelphia is ready to make another Super Bowl run.

Following a couple of weeks of offense that looked sloppier than uncooked scrapple, the defending champions are coming off their most productive performance since February's rout of the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans.

A year ago, Philadelphia was 5-2 with one loss at home by one point and another on the road by 17.

This season, the Eagles are 5-2 with one loss at home by four points and another on the road by 17.

Last year, Philadelphia won 16 of its final 17 games to claim the franchise's second Lombardi Trophy.

After getting their swag back in Sunday's 28-22 victory against the Minnesota Vikings, the pieces are in place to make a similar surge all the way to Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8 in Santa Clara, Calif.

Perhaps that's an overreaction after a narrow win in Minneapolis, but so were the Stephen A. Smith-level forecasts of doom and gloom that preceded it.

The Eagles' two defeats were to the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos (5-2) and the NFC East rival New York Giants, an anomalous outcome they will look to avenge this Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

After the rematch with the Giants, the Eagles have a bye in Week 9 before moving into November -- the real spooky season for Philadelphia's opponents in the Nick Sirianni era.

Sirianni has won 10 of his last 11 games in November. He is also 9-0 against the NFC North, including playoffs, since he became the head coach in 2022. Three of November's games are against NFC North members: at Green Bay in Week 10, and at home against Detroit in Week 11 and Chicago in Week 13.

For sure, there are injury issues on defense and a few potential pitfalls ahead, including a visit to Lambeau Field and a trip to Buffalo in late December (Week 17), but history is again on Philadelphia's side. The Eagles have swept the last three meetings with both the Packers and the Bills.

The last time Buffalo beat the Eagles was back in 2011, when Ryan Fitzpatrick was the Bills' QB and could still trim his beard without gardening tools.

Jalen Hurts doesn't have to be perfect, as he was against the Vikings, for Philadelphia to win. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith don't have to be phenomenal, as both were against the Vikings, for Philadelphia to win. Heck, Saquon Barkley doesn't even have to be Saquon Barkley for Philadelphia to win.

The champs are playing winning football, with only three turnovers in seven games and outstanding stats on both sides of the ball in the red zone: 14 touchdowns on 17 trips for the Eagles; 10 TDs on 23 trips for their opponents.
