Why Won't Tic Tac Renounce Donald Trump?
Late Friday afternoon, a collective shudder made its way across the nation as millions of people listened to a 2005 recording of Donald Trump explaining how he liked to grab women “by the pussy.” Since then, dozens of Republican lawmakers have publicly renounced Donald Trump and rescinded their endorsements. One entity, however, has remained notably reluctant to comment on Donald Trump the candidate. I speak, of course, of Tic Tacs.
In the video published by the , Donald Trump can be heard saying that he “better use some Tic Tacs” before greeting his attractive female costar for the day, “just in case I start kissing her.”
Facing mounting pressure from both sides of the candy aisle, Tic Tac was forced to release a statement on Donald Trump’s repulsive behavior. Earlier this afternoon, Tic Tac USA tweeted this:
A craven statement from what was once everyone’s favorite delicious, tiny breath mint. In denouncing the statements but refusing to renounce the man, Tic Tac USA is no better than Paul Ryan, John McCain, or any of the other men (with daughters and wives, no less!) who continue to support Donald Trump.
We’ve reached out to Tic Tac USA for comment on their fecklessness, and will update if and when we hear back. In the meantime, please, choose Certs.
Update 5:01 p.m.:
Even John McCain has heard our cry.
Tic Tac, we’re waiting.
