Women's Top 25 roundup: Cameron Brink powers No. 4 Stanford past Belmont

Cameron Brink piled up 27 points and 16 rebounds as No. 4 Stanford rolled to a 74-55 win over Belmont on Wednesday in the opening round of the Ball Dawgs Classic in Henderson, Nevada.

Brink shot 9-of-16 from the floor and also tallied three assists and two blocks. Brink entered the game having made 72 consecutive free throws — three shy of the Division I record. She made her first shot of the night from the charity stripe, but missed her second. She finished the night 9-of-10 from the line.

Stanford (5-0) also got 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists from Kiki Iriafen. Tuti Jones and Tessa Miller each scored 18 points for Belmont (2-3).

The Bruins led by a point early in the third quarter, and then Stanford went on a 9-0 run, with six of those points coming from Brink. Belmont trimmed the deficit to six points in the fourth quarter, but the Cardinal closed the game on a 15-2 run.

"(Brink) had a great second half... I thought Kiki had a really good game. I thought our fourth quarter was great," Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer said. "We started making some shots and we've got to run offense better. We worked hard defensively."

Stanford will face No. 13 Florida State on Thursday.

No. 13 Florida State 90, Northwestern 52

Sara Bejedi tallied 17 points, four rebounds and four assists as the Seminoles topped the Wildcats in Henderson, Nevada at the Ball Dawgs Classic.

FSU (5-0) also got 14 points from Omariah Gordon and 15 points from Alexis Tucker. Reigning National Freshman of the Year Ta'Niya Latson had nine points, four rebounds and four assists in just 16 minutes of play.

For Northwestern (3-2), Hailey Weaver notched her first career double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The Seminoles led wire-to-wire and held the Wildcats to 28.8 percent shooting from the floor while knocking down 45.3 percent of their own shots. FSU also netted 13 3-pointers while holding Northwestern to just four makes from deep.

No. 15 Ohio State 75, Oklahoma State 57

Taylor Thierry had 16 points and 14 rebounds as the Buckeyes beat the Cowgirls in Nassau, Bahamas at the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship.

Ohio State (4-1) also got a boost from Jacy Sheldon, who racked up 22 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Cotie McMahon also added 14 points for Ohio State.

Oklahoma State (2-3) was powered by Stailee Heard's 15 points and seven rebounds, while Quincy Noble added 12 points.

The Buckeyes forced Oklahoma State into 15 turnovers and held the Cowgirls to 13 percent shooting from 3-point land.
