Women's Top 25 roundup: Illinois routs No. 14 Indiana

Makira Cook scored a team-high 22 points and host Illinois used an 18-2 run during the second quarter to run past No. 14 Indiana 86-66 on Monday afternoon in Champaign, Ill.

Illinois (13-12, 7-8 Big Ten) only played six players, and all six scored in double figures: Genesis Bryant scored 15 points, Adalia McKenzie 14, Camille Hobby and Kendall Bostic 12 apiece and Gretchen Dolan 11 off the bench. Bostic added a game-high 11 rebounds.

Indiana (21-4, 12-3) suffered a 1-for-9 shooting stretch over the final 7:13 of the second quarter, while Illinois made 10 of its first 11 field-goal attempts of the period. The Fighting Illini led 44-28 at halftime, and the Hoosiers could not get closer than eight points. Illinois went 17-for-18 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to seal the result.

Mackenzie Holmes scored 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting for the Hoosiers. Yarden Garzon had 17 points and eight rebounds and Sara Scalia added 10 points.

No. 15 UConn 73, No. 21 Creighton 53

Paige Bueckers went for 24 points and six rebounds and Aaliyah Edwards had 20 points and eight boards as the Huskies rolled past the visiting Bluejays in Hartford, Conn.

The teams were tied at 31 at intermission before UConn (23-5, 15-0 Big East) used a 27-10 third quarter to blow the game open. Ashlynn Shade finished with 15 points and nine rebounds and Nika Muhl tallied 11 points, six boards and seven assists for the Huskies.

Creighton (21-4, 12-3) had won 11 straight games since its first encounter with UConn, a 44-point home loss on Jan. 3. The Bluejays received 18 points from Lauren Jensen and 16 from Morgan Maly on Monday.
