Yankees acquire OF Austin Slater from White Sox

The New York Yankees acquired outfielder Austin Slater from the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday in exchange for pitching prospect Gage Ziehl.
Slater, 32, is the latest addition for the Yankees ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, joining infielders Ryan McMahon and Amed Rosario. He also is expected to provide depth with slugger Aaron Judge on the injured list.
The right-handed hitting Slater is batting .236 with five homers and 11 RBIs in 51 games this season for Chicago.
Slater is a career .250 hitter with 45 homers and 182 RBIs in 685 games with the San Francisco Giants (2017-24), Cincinnati Reds (2024), Baltimore Orioles (2024) and White Sox.
Ziehl, a 22-year-old right-hander, is 5-4 with a 4.15 ERA in 16 games (15 starts) for three teams in the minors this season.
The White Sox also recalled outfielder Will Robertson from Triple-A Charlotte. He was purchased from Toronto on July 10.
Robertson, 27, made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays on June 15 and is hitting .063 (1-for-16) with one RBI and 11 strikeouts in seven games in the majors.
