Yankees activate RHP Luke Weaver (hamstring) off IL

The New York Yankees reinstated right-hander Luke Weaver from the 15-day injured list Friday in advance of the opener of a three-game home series against the Baltimore Orioles.
Weaver, 31, has been out since he strained his left hamstring while warming up to enter a June 1 game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Taking over the closer's role this season, Weaver is 1-1 with eight saves and a 1.05 ERA in 24 appearances this season. In 10 major league seasons with six different clubs, Weaver is 35-46 with a 4.71 ERA in 230 appearances (106 starts).
With original closer Devin Williams much improved since Weaver went down, notching four saves since June 3, manager Aaron Boone will be left to sort out bullpen roles.
Weaver takes the roster spot of left-hander Jayvien Sandridge, who was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
