Yankees SS Anthony Volpe (elbow) exits game

Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe exited New York's Friday game against the visiting Boston Red Sox with a left elbow contusion and was undergoing x-rays and a CT scan.
Volpe was hit on the elbow with a changeup by Walker Buehler with the bases loaded in the second inning to give the Yankees a 7-0 lead. Volpe was hunched over in pain and took first base after being looked at by manager Aaron Boone and a trainer.
After the Yankees batted in the third, Volpe was replaced by Oswald Peraza.
Volpe hit a two-run homer during New York's five-run first and is hitting .241 with eight homers and 37 RBIs in 61 games this season. Since debuting in 2023, the former first-round pick has missed six games.
