22-year-old Cuban defector Yasiel Puig made his debut for the Dodgers last night, and what a debut it was. His entry in the box score—two singles in four at-bats—may not look very impressive, but the rocket he threw from the right-field warning track to first base for a game-ending double play certainly was.

That's some vintage Vlad Guerrero shit right there, and it's the kind of play that makes one understand why the Dodgers shelled out $42 million to sign the young defector. Puig is still very raw and will no doubt run into some stumbling blocks as he attempts to stick with the big club, but plays like the one he made last night should have Dodger fans very excited about the Yasiel Puig era.
