Year In Review: February
We're reviewing each month of the past year leading up to New Years Day. We call it, imaginatively, "Year In Review." We're digging through our archives pretty well, but if you think we should definitely feature something for the last year that we might overlook, email us at [email protected] with suggestions. And enjoy the trip down the lane of diminishing memory!
FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS
• February 1. On the eve of the Super Bowl, Ben Roethlisberger watches as drunken photos of him "drinking like a champion" hit the Internets. He never publicly comments on the photos, but it makes most reasonable people like him even more, then encourage him to wear a helmet while motorcycling.
• February 3. ESPN introduces ESPN Mobile, which is a smashing success in every possible definition of the term.
• February 5. The Steelers win the Super Bowl, setting the stage for a year in which nothing goes wrong in Pittsburgh sports.
• February 8. The Winter Olympics begin, and Johnnie Weir reminds us how FABULOUS! he is.
• February 9. Al Michaels is traded to NBC for a cartoon bunny.
• February 20. Barry Bonds says he'll retire after the 2006 season, saving us all from worrying about whether or not he'll break Hank Aaron's home run record.
This month is a bit of a blur for us, because we were on vacation for half of it. But there were some Olympics, for those of you who deign to try to remember.
