YES Network Host Bob Lorenz Arrested On DUI Charges, Allegedly Found Slumped Over Steering Wheel At Stop Sign
Bob Lorenz isn't currently a star on the Yankees' broadcast arm, the YES Network. (He does lots of solid studio work.) And judging from what police allege happened early this morning in Westport, Connecticut, Lorenz won't become a star at YES anytime soon.
Here's Westport Now:
Police said Officer John Cabral found Lorenz in the driver's seat and unresponsive at about 3 a.m. with the vehicle's engine idling with the transmission in drive.
"Lorenz awoke and accelerated slowly through the intersection while officers alongside the vehicle yelling for him to stop, which he did just short of striking a light pole on the right shoulder of Greens Farms Road," a police statement said.
"He then shut off the vehicle and rolled the driver's window down. Officers were unable to comprehend his mumbled speech and could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath. He failed the field sobriety tests and was taken into custody."
Lorenz has won three consecutive local Emmys in New York. According to The Hour, Lorenz listed his occupation as "actor" on his arrest report.
And:
He declined to reveal his profession to the bail commissioner at Norwalk Superior Court. After his arraignment, Lorenz was asked if he was an anchor on the YES Network, and he politely replied, "No. I get that all the time."
Oops.
