Well, huge congratulations to the Chicago White Sox, winners of the World Series, a sentence that makes us feel crazy just to type it. People — including a few people already on our comment boards — may say that the White Sox caught all the breaks and only won close games, including last night, but you can't change the fact that this team was 11-1 in the postseason, had the second-best record in baseball and, oh, had a manager that steered the ship while still finding time to make out with everything in sight.

We'd toss some congratulations to the Astros for making it this far, but we kind of have a feeling they would just weakly pop it up to the second baseman. (Sorry.) There doesn't seem to be a feeling out there this morning that the White Sox have made the breakthrough that the Red Sox have, though, obviously, they have (perhaps it's just that Scoop Jackson hasn't accepted the mantle as "Bard Of The White Sox"). We personally know five White Sox fans whose hearts you can still feel thumping the next morning, even through the computer.

Bill Veeck once said, "if there is any justice in this world, to be a White Sox fan frees a man from any other form of penance." Today, that applies to Astros fans and, of course, Cubs fans.

But not the White Sox fans. Not anymore.
