Yunel Escobar's Eyeblack Reads "You Are A Faggot" In Spanish [UPDATE]

The image above comes from Saturday's Blue Jays game, and it shows shortstop Yunel Escobar with the Spanish phrase "Tu Ere Maricon" written on his eyeblack. That translates into English as, "You Are A Faggot." We've tried to come up with a plausible explanation for this. The best we've got is that Yunel lost a bet.

By the way, Escobar sat out Sunday's game with "flu-like symptoms." Maybe that's a nice of way of saying, "Benched for being a dick in public."

UPDATE: After combing through hundreds of game photos of Yunel Escobar, Outsports.com found that he may have previously worn eyeblack with an offensive message written on it. A photo from an August 29 game shows Escobar wearing eyeblack with what appears to be "No Penis" written on it in Spanish.
