13-Year-Old Girl Pitches Shutout To Send Team To LLWS
The Taney Dragons will be representing Philadelphia in the Little League World Series this year, thanks in large part to Mo'ne Davis, a 13-year-old girl who has become the team's ace pitcher.
Davis pitched a shutout against Newark in yesterday's Mid-Atlantic regional championship, striking out six and allowing just three hits in six innings. Davis's fastball can reach 70 mph, and her curveball is pretty damn devastating. See for yourself:
Davis has been playing since she was seven years old, but she admits that baseball isn't even her favorite sport. In an interview with espnW, Davis said that her dream is to one day play in the WNBA. She also discussed her strategy on the mound:
If I'm pitching, I just go out and throw strikes. They think I throw, like, soft, but then they see my fastball, and they get kinda scared and I just strike 'em out.
Mo'ne Davis is a badass.
