On Saturday, 1win swept Team Liquid 2-0 in the upper-bracket final, advancing to Sunday's grand final. They will face the winner of Sunday's first match, the lower-bracket final between Liquid and BOOM Esports.
The Dota Elite League Season 2 began with 16 teams in Swiss-style group play. The top eight teams from the group advanced to the playoffs -- the top four moving into the upper-bracket semis and the next four relegated to the lower bracket. The winner, decided in Sunday's grand final, will win $240,000 out of the $800,000 prize pool. The runner-up will get $120,000.
All playoffs matches are best-of-three save the grand final, which is best-of-five.
In a matchup of the teams that finished second and fourth in group play, 1win took the first map against Liquid in 40 minutes while playing on red. Then on green, 1win prevailed in 46 minutes to take the match.
The day's first match saw the top-seeded nouns following group play get bounced without winning a match in the playoffs. After falling to the lower bracket on Friday, nouns won the first map against BOOM Esports on Saturday, taking it in 39 minutes on green. But BOOM responded to win in 29 minutes and 44 minutes, both times on green.
In the other lower-bracket quarterfinal, Execration beat third-seeded OG in 43 minutes on the first map, playing from red. OG responded with a 39-minute win on green to even the match, but Execration took the deciding map on green in 53 minutes.
In the lower-bracket semifinal, BOOM Esports needed 50 minutes to beat Execration on the first map but only 28 minutes to complete the sweep. BOOM won both maps while on red.
