The NBA Playoffs are the perfect mix of fun, chaos and pressure.

Unfortunately for teams that are unable to live up to the high stakes pressure of the NBA postseason, organizations are forced into making difficult decisions.

Because of failed expectations in the postseason, or an inability to get into the NBA Playoffs in general, teams will turn the page on superstar players to reset an organization moving forward.

Don’t be surprised if these NBA superstars are traded this offseason.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Let’s start with the lowest hanging fruit first. On Monday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Milwaukee Bucks are entertaining trade conversations for Antetokounmpo.

The Greek Freak will turn 32 in December and has dealt with some injuries. Yet still, there will be no shortage of suitors for the two-time NBA MVP.

Antetokounmpo’s last few seasons with the Bucks have been tumultuous. The Bucks haven’t done a great job capitalizing on the back half of his prime, especially after winning an NBA Championship. Even though he might not be the same player he once was, there’s no debating that a contending team would improve their title chances with Antetokounmpo on their roster.

Jaylen Brown

After Jayson Tatum missed almost the entire 2025-26 campaign with a ruptured Achilles tendon, Brown proved that he was capable of leading the Boston Celtics on his own.

Once Tatum returned, the Celtics regressed and were unable to get out of the first round of the NBA Playoffs, shockingly upset against the Philadelphia 76ers. Following that premature exit, Brown admitted on social media that this was his favorite year of his career.

It’s clear that he wants his own team. It’s probable that the pairing with Tatum has run its course. The Celtics would get a haul for Brown to help them stay competitive with a healthier Tatum in 2026-27.

Jamal Murray

Okay, now let’s start to get a little bit crazy.

Would the Denver Nuggets realistically move on from one of the players they put so much effort into developing, and helped them finally win an NBA Championship in 2023?

Following a first round playoff exit of their own, it’s a question worth asking. Nikola Jokic noted that in Serbia, everyone “would get fired” following that premature exit. Was that his way of hinting that major changes need to be made?

“I think everything’s on the table, outside of trading Nikola,” Nuggets president Josh Kroenke told reporters after the season.

If Jokic isn’t on the move, flipping Murray would be the cleanest way to retool around the 31-year-old former three-time MVP.

Ja Morant

It feels like Morant is on borrowed time with the Memphis Grizzlies, who just landed the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Had the Grizzlies landed the rights to selecting BYU’s AJ Dybansta or Kansas guard Darryn Peterson, maybe trying to get off of the mat and conducting a quick turnaround to win in Morant’s prime would be worthwhile.

But the Grizzlies could decide that they’re better off trading the 26-year-old superstar now that he’s finally been healthy and out of trouble for the last few months. Memphis would get a huge haul to help expedite their rebuild around the No. 3 pick.

Evan Mobley

Charnia’s report about Antetokounmpo mentioned the Cleveland Cavaliers as a potential trade partner with the Bucks, depending on how their NBA Playoff run concludes.

Mobley was the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Under head coach Kenny Atkinson, the 24-year-old has continued to develop his offensive game, but there’s plenty of room for improvement. He’s one of the league’s most intriguing players under 25, but has been in the NBA since 2021 and still showcases some inconsistencies.

If the Cavaliers decided to chase Antetokounmpo, the Bucks would likely want Mobley, which could be a risky move for Cleveland to contemplate.
