A Member Of The Brooklyn Nets Is Being Questioned In A Sexual Assault Case [UPDATE: It Appears It Was Andray Blatche]
According to CBS Philly and other local outlets, a member of the Brooklyn Nets [See update below] is being questioned by Philadelphia police in relation to a sexual assault that allegedly occurred early Tuesday morning at the Four Seasons Hotel in Center City. The Nets are in town to play the Sixers tonight.
A 21-year-old woman notified police of the alleged assault and went to a local hospital for evaluation, then police brought the anonymous Net and "his associates" to the Special Victims Unit for further questioning. No charges have been filed yet. According to Fox 29, there's only one Net involved. We'll update further when we learn more.
Update (11:38 a.m.): A police source tells our Brian Hickey, who's based in Philadelphia, that the woman is an acquaintance of the player. The woman and the player's entourage remain at SVU giving statements.
Meanwhile, NBC Philadelphia reports that the Net was inside the hotel suite where the assault allegedly occurred, but he was not inside the bedroom. That report also states that police have taken the Net and two other men—a 41-year-old and a 25-year-old—into custody.
Update 2 (12:27 p.m.): The New York Daily News, and our own Brian Hickey, report that the player being questioned by police was Andray Blatche. Blatche, who has been fairly open about his various legal troubles, just tweeted, "Im ok and I didn't do anything jus was n the area when it happened." (That jibes with NBC's earlier report.)
Update 3 (2:00 p.m.): Blatche will not be charged.
