Aaron Rai withdraws from Byron Nelson after PGA triumph
Aaron Rai watches his tee shot on the ninth hole during the third round of the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches at PGA National Resort & Spa on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Aaron Rai is taking a well-earned week off after winning the PGA Championship, as the Englishman withdrew from the upcoming CJ Cup Byron Nelson on Monday.
S.Y. Noh of South Korea replaces Rai in the field off the alternate list.
Rai, 31, captured his first major championship Sunday at Aronimink Golf Club by going 6 under par for his final 10 holes to post a 5-under 65 for the round and 9 under for the tournament.
He rose to 24th in the FedEx Cup standings and 15th in the Official World Golf Ranking thanks to the biggest win of his career.
The Byron Nelson tees off Thursday in McKinney, Texas, with defending champion Scottie Scheffler in the field along with fan favorite and fellow Texan Jordan Spieth.
