Mandatory Credit: Mitch Stringer-Imagn Images Adley Rutschman hit the first of his two two-run homers in Baltimore's three-homer first inning and the Orioles went on to rip the visiting Boston Red Sox 10-3 on Friday.
Rutschman, who has three home runs in two games since being activated from the injury list earlier this week, finished with six RBIs. The Orioles blasted six home runs -- four of them solo blasts.
Gunnar Henderson began the homer parade on the second pitch of the bottom of the first, and Rutschman and Dylan Beavers joined him with long balls in the inning. Samuel Basallo and Coby Mayo later went deep.
Taylor Ward went 4-for-4, Basallo added four hits and Beavers joined Rutschman with three hits apiece.
Orioles starter Brandon Young (2-0) got plenty of support in his second big-league outing of the season, lasting 5 2/3 innings and allowing three runs on seven hits. He struck out five and walked one.
Wilyer Abreu hit a homer for Boston in the second inning, and he, Marcelo Mayer and Trevor Story each finished with two of their team's 10 hits. The Red Sox, coming off a three-game sweep by the visiting New York Yankees, have lost four games in a row.
Boston starter Brayan Bello (1-3) was hammered for eight runs and 13 hits -- including five homers -- in 3 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out two.
After the four-run first inning, the Orioles scored at least one run in each of the next four innings.
Rutschman's two-run shot in the first inning, RBI fielder's choice in the second, two-run homer in the fourth inning and run-scoring single in the seventh accounted for his big night.
Orioles relievers Yennier Cano, Andrew Kittredge and Cameron Foster combined for 3 1/3 shutout innings out of the bullpen. Kittredge was in his first outing of the season after rehabbing with Triple-A Norfolk.
The Red Sox loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth off Foster but didn't score.
