Angel City FC bolstered their midfield on Tuesday, acquiring Nealy Martin from Gotham FC in exchange for $85,000 in intra-league transfer funds.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., Martin began her NWSL career in 2021 with Racing Louisville before joining Gotham in 2023, helping the team win the league title. In her four-plus seasons in the league, the 27-year-old former Alabama star has notched a pair of assists.

"I am so grateful for the opportunity to join Angel City," Martin said in a statement. "This club is building something really special, and I am beyond excited to give everything I have to L.A. Every time I have played at BMO Stadium, I have been so impressed by the fans and atmosphere, so I look forward to experiencing it as an Angel City player."

This past January, Martin was called up to the U.S. women's national team for the first time.

"We are very happy to welcome Nealy to Angel City," Angel City FC sporting director Mark Parsons said in a statement. "Nealy is a NWSL champion and brings great character and leadership to our team."
