Arnold Hano Talks

Sorry I'm late in sharing this story about Arnold Hano.

I once spoke with Arnold on the phone. He told me that a local reporter had recently visited and talked to him for a newspaper article. When the piece appeared the writer described Hano as "spry." Arnold took exception to the term—something that is usually only applied to old people.

"C'mere, son," he said to me, "and watch me stick my spry foot up your ass."
