Mandatory Credit: Aaron Doster-Imagn Images Arthur Fery, who made a memorable run to his first ATP Tour semifinal appearance last month, is headed to his second semifinal after advancing at the Winston-Salem Open on Thursday in North Carolina.
The fourth-seeded Briton rallied to beat Aleksandar Kovacevic 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.
Fery, then ranked No. 114 in the world, became the first unseeded British player to reach the semifinals at Wimbledon in the Open Era before he lost to Alexander Zverev in the semifinals.
With his latest win, he will rise to a career-high ranking of at least No. 35 next week.
Fery had 17 winners to Kovacevic's 16, but the American committed 39 unforced errors to Fery's 20.
Fery's semifinal opponent will be Australia's James Duckworth, who overtook 15th-seeded Fabian Marozsan of Hungary 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-4.
The other semifinal will feature third-seeded Ignacio Buse of Peru and France's Benjamin Bonzi. Buse squeezed past eighth-seeded Juan Manuel Cerundolo of Argentina 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-2, and Bonzi topped 13th-seeded Botic van de Zandschulp 7-6 (5), 6-4.
